Shree Narmada Sanskrit Ved Pathshala, Bharuch has a rich legacy dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Sanskrit and Vedic learning in Gujarat. The Pathshala was originally established in 1884 A.D. (Samvat 1940, Kartik Sud Bij) by Mahatma Mahadev Tryambak Jog in Shankaracharya Math at Navchoki Ovara, Bharuch. During that time, the Bhargav Brahmins of Bharuch were widely respected across Gujarat for their deep knowledge of the Vedas and their role in performing sacred rituals.
With a vision to sustain this tradition of learning the Pathshala continued to function for many decades until 2003. As the institution grew, Shri Narendra Bhai Shastriji proposed the development of a new campus to strengthen and expand the Pathshala’s activities.
With the cooperation of the trustees of Tapovan Sanskar Kendra, Bharuch, a new site was established near Sardar Bridge, Bharuch, in the serene and spiritual surroundings along the banks of Maa Narmada. The Bhumi Pujan for the new building was performed on 18 August 2000, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the Pathshala.
